COVID-19: Pet vaccination drive begins in Russia

The first batch of world’s only COVID-19 vaccine for animals named as “Karnivak-Kov” has been delivered in Russia. The vaccination camp kicked off at several Russian regions that include Moscow Region, Nizhny Novgorod, Tver, and the Republic of Crimea. The vaccine has been produced by Russian scientists of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary aiming to avert the deadly virus. During this vaccination drive, apart from pet animals, other animals such as Artic foxes, foxes, minks were also vaccinated. The study revealed high immunogenicity of the vaccine and 100 percent antibody production. In this pet vaccination against COVID-19, dogs and cats can be vaccinated when they are 6 months old, whereas fur pets – when they are three. The manufacturer plans to register the vaccine abroad as 17 countries have already shown interest in the drug.
