BERLIN: This year's soccer World Cup boosted Germany's gross domestic product (GDP) by 0.3 per cent and created 50,000 new jobs, the head of Germany's chamber of industry and commerce (DIHK) said.

Martin Wansleben told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper that the month-long tournament had stimulated the economy, which was expected to grow this year by 2.3 per cent, its strongest rate since 2000.
