A US soldier who opened fire on Afghan civilians in Kandahar province entered their homes in the middle of the night and carried out the attack, Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs Asadullah Khalid told Reuters on Sunday. Khalid, who is investigating the incident, said the soldier entered three homes, killing a total of 16 people and wounding five.Other Afghan officials said at least seven people died.
