Three missing children were found dead in a refrigerator in a South African township after their whereabouts were not known for a day, Xinhua reported.
The grandfather of one of the children found the bodies inside an old refrigerator on Friday in Atamelang township of the North West province, police said Saturday.
The kids, aged up to four years, were last seen playing outside their home Thursday, a police spokesperson said.
It is believed that the children locked themselves inside the refrigerator while playing, a media report said.
"Parents and community members tried to look for them but failed, " said Molale. "The community was alerted and helped to search but that did not yield any results.
On Friday afternoon, the grandfather of one of the victims found them in a kraal, an enclosure for cattle or other livestock, where the old refrigerator was stored."
