Teen girl dies while charging her phone during a storm

An 18-year-old girl from Brazil named Radja Ferreira de Oliveira died after getting electrocuted when her home was struck by lightning as she was charging her mobile phone. On Sunday, Radja Ferreira de Oliveira was charging her phone when her house in Santarem, Brazil, was struck by lightning.

Following her death, several experts have stressed the dangers of using a phone while it is charging, especially during a storm. 

According to a report in The Sun, 18-year-old Radja was using her phone when she got a severe electric shock and lost consciousness. After the incident, an ambulance was called to the scene but her family had already given her first aid and rushed her to the hospital. Unfortunately, Radja was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Brazilian state of Para has an approximate population of 8,777,124, out of which Radja was the third person to be electrocuted in the past 1 week. 

In Curua, Semeao Tavares was on his phone and talking to someone when he was struck by lightning on August 25, during another storm. He was still alive when the ambulance reached him but he later died from his injuries. 

On the other hand, Councillor Raimundo Brito, of the Progressistas political party was also electrocuted during the same storm, on August 25, as he was outside his home in Macura. However, Councillor Raimundo Brito was reportedly not using his mobile phone at the time.

Councillor Brito was able to call for help after which he was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
