According to CBS News, Comey conceded that Al Nusra, the Syrian front of Al Qaeda which is now sheltering Khorasan, has experienced terrorists, bomb makers, killers and planners with an international eye who can wage global jihad. He also conceded that about "a dozen" Americans are fighting in the Middle East and cannot be prevented from returning to the homeland, but added that they will be monitored "very carefully".

Comey also said the intelligence community is better prepared, organised and equipped to tackle the threats posed by the terror outfits today than it was prior to the 9/11 attack.

The US has been carrying out air strikes targeting Khorasan in Syria for weeks now in an attempt to take on the terror group.
