Here is all you need to know about the Indian-origin Islamic State militant known as the 'New Jihadi John'.
The US on Wednesday listed Indian-origin Islamic State militant Siddhartha Dhar as a global terrorist.
The US State Department has listed Siddhartha Dhar as Specially Designated Global Terrorists under Section 1(b) of Executive Order, which imposes sanctions and is considered as a threat to the national security or US nationals.
Here is all you need to know about the man known as the 'New Jihadi John':
1. Siddhartha Dhar was formerly a British Hindu who converted to Islam and now calls himself Abu Rumaysah.
2. Dhar fled from UK in 2014 and left for Syria to join ISIS with his pregnant wife and four children and said he was prepared for 'death'.
3. Dhar was a top member of the now-defunct terrorist organisation Al-Muhajiroun.
4. He is believed to have appeared in ISIS video with his face covered in black mask that threatened to kill five men spying for the UK in 2016.
5. The Indian-origin terrorist is said to have replaced ISIS executioner Mohammad Emwazi, who was known as 'Jihadi John'.
6. A Yazidi teenager Nihad Barakat who was held as a sex slave by the Islamic State terror group had alleged that Dhar was the one who kidnapped and trafficked her in Iraq's Mosul.
7. Dhar's former neighbours in Britain had earlier claimed that the now designated 'global terrorist' could have been put into the path of extremism by his wife.
8. Dhar's family member had claimed that he was brainwashed into joining a terror group and said he was born and raised as Hindu.
9. His family claims Siddharth was a well-behaved boy who a fan of the English football club Arsenal and had dreamt of becoming a vet.
10. Growing up, Dhar had a rabbit, hamster and a turtle as pets at his home and also helped to take care of his neighbour's cat David. He was heartbroken when the cat was killed in a car accident.
11. Dhar was converted by one of his Muslim friend who organised his 'arranged marriage' with Aisha in 2006 and then pushed him to join the banned Islamist terrorist organisation 'Al Muhajiroun'.
