Russia: Youth hires contract killer to kill parents. Twist in tale makes for perfect Abbas-Mustan film

In a horrific incident that could make for a plot in an Abbas-Mustan movie, a 22-year-old man was tricked by police into believing that the contract killer that he had hired to kill his family had successfully done so. The twist was, however, that police came to know of the plan and set up a trap to nab the youth.

According to Russian media, the incident took place in Sochi, which hosted the last Winter Olympics in 2014. The youth had set up an elaborate plot to kill his parents and 10-year-old sister. They said that he had committed the crime to inherit his parent’s fortune

Police say the youth had drawn up an entire floor plan for the contract killer, who turned out to be an undercover cop. In the plan, he detailed where the CCTV cameras were placed and how to avoid guard dogs.

The hitman/cop intimated the youth’s devastated parents, but convinced them to take part in a police mock-up using fake blood, with the ‘blood’ coming out of knife wounds.

The ‘assassin’ arranged a meeting in a Mercedes and showed the photographs of his “slain parents” to the youth, who then paid him the Rs 34 lakh ($34,000) as money.  However, he was nabbed by armed police and confessed to the crime, adding that he had previously tried killing his parents twice.

Police said that he tried killing his parents because they weren’t giving him money.

A police officer said that he had previously tried poisoning them, but his father felt something amiss. He then tried breaking a thermometer in his parents’ car, but got cold feet at the end.

The youth’s father runs a major education institution in Sochi. The family has a large house and car as well as savings which would have gone to their son. The man faces 15 years in jail if convicted of preparing the contract killings of his family.
