The Dutch Police ceased a van with Spanish number plates containing a number of gas canisters after a tip-off from the Spanish police, reported Independent, quoting the city's mayor, Ahmed Aboutaleb.

Aboutaleb said the concert was cancelled after a tip-off from Spanish police, who are continuing to investigate a twin terror attack in Catalonia that left 15 people dead.

The van's driver had been detained and was being questioned.

The American band Allah-Las were due to perform on Wednesday night (local time) at the Maassilo venue.

The band said in a statement: "Due to a potential terror threat at The Maassilo in Rotterdam, the Allah-Las show was cancelled tonight.?
