Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday night condemned the suicide bomber attack in a school in Nigeria which left 48 students dead, terming it as a cowardly act.

"The attack in Nigeria is cowardly and utterly condemnable," Modi tweeted.

"Condolences to the kin of the deceased. My prayers (are) with the injured," he said.

A suicide bomber, disguised in a school uniform, detonated explosives at a high school assembly in northeast Nigeria.

According to a morgue worker, 48 students have been kilwled in the attack.
