Musharraf was being shifted from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad when the explosion occurred just after the convoy crossed the bridge.

According to Dawn News, sources said almost four to six kilograms of explosive material was planted in a pipeline near a footpath. The intensity of the blast caused about a foot deep hole in the ground. The police claimed that the attack was aimed at targeting Musharraf.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident. Musharraf was safely at his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad.
