Pakistan’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has denounced Imran Khan’s suggestion to allow the Taliban to open an office for peace talks as a ‘dangerous idea’, while questioning the unity amongst the militant groups.
He claimed that some pro-Taliban parties denied conducting the recent terror attacks, blaming nearly 25 other sub-groups, which were still not in favour of negotiations.
Hussain reaffirmed that if the Taliban were not a unified body and lacked the ability to control other militant groups, the whole concept of peace talks looks complicated, Dawn News reports. Hussain criticised those politicians of the country who suggest recognition of anti-state elements as a legitimate stakeholder of the country by allowing them to open an office.
Hussain said the All-Party Conference gave the government a mandate to hold talks with extremists and militants, but it did not stop militants from carrying out attacks on the nation.
