Oxford University has apologised after students were accidently emailed a list of their worst-performing peers' marks, it has been revealed.

The leaked email contained the names of students who achieved a 2.2 grade or below in their first-term exams at University College, the Independent reported.

According to the Oxford Student newspaper, the email contained an Excel document, originally written to inform students of timetables for upcoming exams , was sent to almost 50 students. The president of the University College’s JCR, said that the staff member responsible was “mortified” by the mistake.

Meanwhile, the senior tutor of University College apologised to all students affected by the inadvertent disclosure.
