NSA whistleblower, Edward Snowden, who exposed the US secret surveillance programme carried out on citizens, has gone missing from the Hong Kong hotel in which he was staying.

According to BBC, Snowden is believed to be still in Hong Kong. His decision to flee there was to resist US' prosecution attempts for having violated the Espionage Act.

Snowden exposed the US snooping programme that discreetly collected people's emails, photos, and videos and even traced their phone calls for what is claimed to be a 'national security' measure.

Meanwhile, supporters have filed an online petition on the White House website for the whistleblower's pardon calling him a 'national hero' which has already been signed by more than 30,000 signatures.
