TEHRAN: A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Mumbai resumed its journey to India after snags forced the aircraft to land twice at the airport here, where its 123 passengers spent a harrowing time.

The flight finally took off at 7:05 pm Tehran time and is expected to reach the destination shortly after midnight.

The 1987-make Airbus A310-300 aircraft, which was diverted here last night after the pilot detected an electrical problem, made a second landing here after a 40-minute flight this morning owing to a hydraulic problem.

The passengers had spent a sleepless night at the international airport lounge as officials declined to lodge them in hotels citing visa issues.

They had earlier planned to approach the Indian Embassy to see if alternate arrangements could be made for their flight back home.
