Malala to visit UAE to thank her supporters post recovery
Malala, who stood up against the atrocities of the Taliban and advocated female education, was shot in the neck and head by the Taliban while she was travelling back home from school on October 9.
Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani education campaigner who was shot by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), will visit the UAE in February to thank her supporters.
Malala, who stood up against the atrocities of the Taliban and advocated female education, was shot in the neck and head by the Taliban while she was travelling back home from school on October 9. She was later flown to the UK for specialized treatment, and is currently said to be making good recovery.
Pakistani Ambassador Jamil Khan confirmed her visit at a tribute held to Malala at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, reports Gulf News.
"The message of peace resonates from personalities like Malala who become institutions," Khan said. He described Malala as a "star" and "source of inspiration".
After Malala's UAE visit in February she is expected to then travel to Makkah for 'Omra'.
