As the world awaits the US presidential election results, Pakistan expects Democrat Joe Biden to take over as president. Pakistan is in trouble with the Donald Trump administration and will be hoping for Joe Biden's victory. Joe Biden is an old diplomat and has cordial relations with Pakistan, and that is why Pakistan is inherent to him.

In 2008, Pakistan awarded Biden the second-highest civilian honor, 'Hilal-e-Pakistan.' Joe Biden and Senator Richard Lugar favored a proposal to bring $ 1.5 billion non-military aid to Pakistan. Lugar was also awarded 'Hilal-e-Pakistan.'

Asif Ali Zardari, the then President of Pakistan, thanked the two for "consistently supporting Pakistan."

Pakistani analysts feel that Biden will return to the old era of diplomacy between the two countries.

While Trump's straight forward attitude and very diplomatic approach is not the reason for unpopularity in Pakistan, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked Pakistan on several public forums.

During Trump's tenure, relations between the US and Pakistan have deteriorated. Another Pakistani analyst said that if Trump is elected for a second term, he can gain more confidence. Trump has already enacted several laws regarding citizens coming from Muslim countries. So Pakistan wants Trump to exit the White House.

Also, Joe Biden came out in support of the Kashmiris and compared the plight of Muslims in Kashmir to the Rohingyas of Bangladesh and the Uygar Muslims of China.

In a statement published in June 2020, about ten months after the repeal of Article 370 of India's Constitution, Biden asked New Delhi to restore Kashmiris's rights.

The statement said, "The Government of India in Kashmir must take all necessary steps to restore the rights of all the people of Kashmir. Restrictions on dissent, such as shutting down peaceful protests or slowing down the Internet, or weakening democracy. "

On August 5, Article 370 was abolished, and the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories - Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to experts, Pakistan's foreign policy is being closely monitored, so it would be good news for Pakistan if Joe Biden takes office in the White House. Joe Biden can give a new dimension to relations with Pakistan in his foreign policy. In such a situation, it is expected that relations between Pakistan and the US will be better during Biden's tenure than they are today.

Retired military lieutenant general and political-military affairs senior analyst Talat Masood said it is unlikely that US relations with Pakistan will fully recover after Biden becomes US president. We should not live in this hope at all. He said that Biden would restore the dignity of all international organizations. This will help Pakistan.
