South African Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius, serving a six-year jail term for killing his girlfriend, was rushed to hospital on Saturday with cuts to his wrists, City Press newspaper said on Sunday, quoting prison officials.

Pistorius had his jail term for killing Reeva Steenkamp increased from five to six years in July, less than half the 15 years sought by prosecutors. 

Pistorius' family spokeswoman Anneliese Burgess told Reuters the family would not issue a statement at this stage.
