GAZA: An Israeli helicopter fired a missile on Monday at a weapons depot in Gaza City of the Islamic Jihad militant group, mostly destroying the site but causing no casualties, the Israeli army and Palestinian witnesses said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the aircraft had targeted a weapons production facility in an air strike before dawn on Monday. Palestinian witnesses said the site was used for storage.

The attack came hours after five Palestinians were wounded in an air strike on Sunday in the same area on a van transporting weapons for Hamas militants.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert vowed on Sunday to continue an offensive in Gaza without any time limit. He rejected a bid by the Palestinians' Hamas-led government for a ceasefire, demanding first the release of an Israeli soldier abducted on June 25.
