TEHRAN: Iran's top nuclear negotiator warned on Wednesday that UN sanctions over its nuclear programme would harm the chances of resolving the standoff and further "radicalise" the situation, the Mehr news agency reported.

"If the Europeans give into US pressure the situation will radicalise in such a way that Iran will suffer the least and the West will suffer the most," Ali Larijani said.

"Any new (UN Security Council) resolution would push further back the chance of an agreement."
