An unclassified computer network belonging to the US Navy was reportedly alleged to have been hacked by Iran even as US President Barack Obama and Iranian President Hasan Rouhani communicated with each other for the first time since the James Carter administration.

According to The Washington Times, cyber-intrusions aimed at the US Navy computer began almost a week ago, just before a planned upgrade. Hinting that Iran may have hacked at the computer, a former US State Department official and cyber-security specialist said that Iran is very active, adding that the country is better than 'they thought'.

According to US officials, Iran's latest suspected cyber attacks, which have typically been aimed at the private sector, came as a surprise, and showed that the Iranians had gained greater capability than many in the US government believed.
