DUBAI: An Indian couple has gone on trial in the Gulf emirate of Dubai, charged with trafficking children between Mumbai and Paris, a daily in the United Arab Emirates reported on Thursday.

The couple, identified as AKS, 54, and his wife MS, 50, were detained at Dubai airport on December 27 as they transited with two children aged 13 and 14 whose passports turned out to be false, Al-Khaleej said.

The couple later admitted being paid by a contact in Mumbai to deliver the two children to Paris and was charged with child trafficking, the paper said.

The children were handed over to the Indian Embassy.
