DUBAI: Indians working in a British-based call  centre operating from the Dubai Internet City (DIC) have sought  the intervention of the Indian Consulate to end their dispute  with the management.

The employees, who are demanding return of their passports and provide better incentives, said the company is demanding  10,000 Dirhams each for return of their passports.

Indian Consulate officials said they would be writing to the DIC, requesting intervention in solving the issue, The Gulf Today  reported.

In what could be considered as the first protest by white-collar workers, about 120 employees of the company had stopped work last on Wednesday.

''We are well-educated professionals but are being treated  like slaves,'' an employee said.
