The US Department of Defence has reportedly ended the agreement with Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which allowed them to travel on sharply discounted jet fuel bought from the Pentagon.
A Pentagon spokeswoman said that the agreement with the search giant started in 2007 and ended Aug. 31 after officials at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which sponsored the arrangement, opted not to renew it.
According to the Fox News, the decision came amidst discussions over whether Google founders exceeded contract terms by using fuel for non-government flights.
Iowa Republican, Sen. Charles Grassley, said that he is seeking an audit of the arrangement by the Pentagon's inspector general and questioned if some executives are getting a special deal on fuel that isn't available to other businesses.
Grassley further added that the setup raises concerns about the government's role as a fair broker with businesses and responsible steward of tax dollars, the report added.
