A drug dealer carrying cannabis was arrested in Copenhagen after he got into the backseat of a police car, thinking it was a taxi, news agency AFP reported.

The man had about 1,000 joints on him, said police, who promptly arrested him.

The incident took place in Christiana, a district found by hippies in 1970's, and a hub for drug trade.

Cannabis dealing and possession is illegal in Denmark. Police have carried out many raids in this district try to pull out drug dealers in the area.

Copenhagen Police took to Twitter and stated:  "Last night a cannabis dealer from Christiana who wanted to get home quickly got into a taxi. He received a big surprise when he realised it was actually a police car he was sitting in."
