Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday stated that his nation would never use force to achieve its goals, adding that Beijing wants to work towards peace in the South Asia region.

Addressing the Australian Parliament here, President Xi further noted that history showed that countries which attempted to pursue development with force invariably failed. He also stated that peace is precious and needs to be protected.

China is currently in dispute with four South-East Asian countries over territories in the South China Sea and with Japan over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
