The blasts at the airport and metro station occurred four days after the arrest in Brussels of a suspected participant in November militant attacks in Paris that killed 130 people. Belgian police had been on alert for any reprisal action.

Brussels is in lockdown. According to Crisis Center Belgium, all public transport, metro, train stations, trams, and bus services are closed. People are advised to stay where they are. They are requested to not flood the networks by trying to call. They are advised to use social media, texts.

All the passengers who were on the piers at the Brussels airport have been evacuated, tweet by Brussels Airport handle confirms. They have also issued a helpline number

Crisis Center Belgium has opened a helpline number too.

Ministry of External Affairs of India has tweeted about the emergency contact numbers Indians in Belgium can call on to seek help or gather more information.
