A day after shocking pictures of celebrity chef Nigella Lawson being attacked by her husband in public took the international media by storm, a sexist remark by British National Party (BNP) leader Nick Griffin on Twitter has sparked outrage.
The politician made the offensive remark after pictures of Lawson being throttled by her art collector husband Charles Saatchi were published.
If I had the opportunity to squeeze Nigella Lawson, her throat wouldn't be my first choice.

While Lawson has refrained from commenting on the shocking pictures, her husband described them as a "playful tiff".
The misogynist tweet was favourited by 96 users and retweeted 609 times as on Monday with many slamming the far-right politician.
I realise the man's a moron, but really how low can you go??? #nickgriffin

I've always considered #NickGriffin one rung below pondlife. Today sees him sink even lower.

If I had the opportunity to squeeze #NickGriffin, it would be between the fan blades of a jet engine at full power.

Oh and #NickGriffin, if I had a chance to squeeze #Nigella, it would be her HAND in support for what's she's been through! #jackass

Oh man! #NickGriffin's done it again. Nick, either don't say anything or get a new PR.

Can Nick Griffin just stay in Syria? Preferably a very dangerous part of Syria? #nickgriffin #saatchi #nigella

Nick Griffin reminds me of a 5 year old desperately saying the most offensive thing he can think of in the hope someone will pay attention.

Dear fellow Brits, ignore the fascist chauvinist pig. #NickGriffin

Well done Nick Griffin, reassuring the masses once again what an absolute moron you are

Jesus Christ, I frigging hate sharing an island with people like Nick Griffin.

Last week, Griffin had courted controversy for branding anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela a "murdering old terrorist" and mocked the 94-year-old's failing health condition.
Saint #nelsonmandela on last legs it seems. Make sure to avoid BBC when the murdering old terrorist croaks. It'll be nauseating.

'Statesmen' must be judged on results not rhetoric. Before Mandela, South Africa was safe economic powerhouse. Now crime ridden basket case.

No surprise #Mandela's lungs are shot - all those burning tyres. Smoking necklaces very bad for the health.
