Biden-Obama bromance memes reach peak after surprise Medal of Freedom honour
From Harry Potter to the Avengers to DC Universe, everyone made an appearance.
The viral trend of bromance memes between outgoing US President Barack Obama and his second-in-command Joe Biden got a new push after Obama surprised 'brother' Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction on Thursday night.
After SNL crowned Tom Hanks 'Dad of America', CNN bestowed Biden with the title 'Uncle-in-Chief.'
Biden is the uncle social media always wanted. He provides fodder for memes, has cool aviators, and quotes Irish poets — especially Seamus Heaney as pointed out by Obama in his beautiful speech — whenever you need picking up after a Twitter troll hurts you.
At a tearful farewell at the White House, Obama described Biden as "an extraordinary man with an extraordinary career" before taking a dig at Internet over getting one last chance to joke about the "bromance" the two share.
Obama called the 74-year-old former Delaware senator "the best vice president America's ever had" and a "lion of American history" during an emotional ceremony to honour Biden at the East Room of the White House.
A visibly overwhelmed Biden said the award was more than he deserved. "President, I'm indebted to you. I'm indebted to your friendship. I'm indebted to your family," he said.
That was the cue for 'Internet' to get to business. Here's the harvest of meme fodder well spent—
