At least 16 people were injured after a major fire broke at an apartment building in New York's Bronx area today. The fire started at around 5.30 am local time and spread to multiple floors.

According to the reports, at least 16 people have been injured as the blaze continues to rage. The fire started at a furniture store on the ground floor and quickly spread throughout the building. 

The multi-storey building is situated on the corner of the Commonwealth and Bronx River avenues in Van Nest. 

Over 20 fire extinguishing vehicles and more than 100 firefighters are trying to extinguish the blaze.

This is a second incident in less than a week.  after the incident where a 3-year-old playing with a stove had accidentally put the house on fire which claimed 12 lives including four children.
