A Ukranian commercial flight with 176 passengers onboard crashed in Iran's capital Tehran.
All 176 people who were travelling in the Ukraine bound commercial flight have died after the plane crashed minutes after taking off from the Tehran airport.
The Boeing 737-800 belonging to Ukrainian International Airlines took off from Imam Khomeini international airport at 6.12 AM Tehran time and went down about eight minutes later, according to Iranian news agency ISNA.
In a video, the plane can be seen burning like a ball of fire in the sky before crashing in a huge explosion.
“An investigation team was at the site of the crash,” Iran's civil aviation spokesman, Reza Jafarzadeh told the Associated Press.
Flight data shows that a Ukrainian 737-800 belonging to Ukraine International Airlines took off Wednesday morning, then stopped sending data almost immediately afterwards, according to website FlightRadar24.
"The fire is so heavy that we cannot (do) any rescue... we have 22 ambulances, four bus ambulances and a helicopter at the site," Pirhossein Koulivand, head of Iran's emergency services, told state television as reported by Reuters.
As per initial reports, the plane developed technical glitches that led to the crash.
This is a developing story. More details awaited.
