KARACHI: Sixty foreign militants linked to al-Qaeda were killed and 30 others captured by the local tribesmen in a fresh fighting in Pakistan's restive tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

Hussain Khan, a government official in South Waziristan tribal agency, said that around 60 foreign militants were killed by the tribal 'Lashkar' or forces, which had been formed by tribal elders to oust the ultras from their region.

Thirty foreign ultras were also captured by the local tribesmen.
