At least 15 people were killed and over 40 wounded in a suicide and gun attack on a police training centre in southeast Afghanistan.

"At first a suicide bomber detonated a car filled with explosives near the training centre, making way for a number of attackers to start their assault," the interior ministry said in a statement.
"At the moment the area is sealed by the crisis response unit and efforts are ongoing to eliminate the terrorists," the interior ministry statement added.
The victims include 'women, students and police', said Hedayatullah Hamidi, public health director.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
In June, Gardez' police headquarters was attacked by Taliban fighters, killing at least five officers.
