Delhi-Dehradun: check route, distance of this expressway

Varnika Srivastava

By 2025, traveling between Delhi and Dehradun will become significantly faster, with travel time dropping from six hours to just 2.5 hours.

This transformation is thanks to the Delhi-Dehradun expressway corridor, a 213-kilometer elevated route currently undergoing trials.

Unlike the existing route through Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee, the new expressway will link Delhi and Dehradun via Baghpat and Saharanpur.

The final 20-kilometer stretch between Dehradun and Biharigarh in Saharanpur is nearing completion, including a 12-kilometer elevated section between Asharodi and Ganeshpur, which is already open for trial runs.

Heavy traffic that currently adds up to an hour of delay on this segment will be drastically reduced. With the construction of Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor spanning Rajaji National Park and the Shivalik Reserve forest, travel through this area will take only 15-20 minutes.

According to The Economic Times, a senior project official revealed that the project began in January 2021 and is expected to be finished by December 2024.

Only minor tasks remain, and pending approval from higher authorities, the expressway is slated to become fully operational by January 2025.
