Pistachios have a low glycemic index, meaning they cause a slower rise in blood sugar levels, which is beneficial for managing blood sugar.
According to a research led by Chairman and Chief of Diabetes Research, Dr V Mohan, it showed significant improvements in blood sugar control and much lower post-meal blood glucose levels when participants consumed 30 g pistachios before breakfast and dinner.
The 60 g limit over two meals showed no weight gain in the participants, the same research said.
They are high in dietary fiber, which can improve digestion and help regulate blood sugar levels by slowing down carbohydrate absorption.
Being a good source of protein, pistachios can help maintain satiety and reduce overall calorie intake, aiding in weight management.
They are rich in antioxidants, such as vitamin E and polyphenols, which can help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress linked to insulin resistance.
Eating pistachios in moderation can help control portions and prevent overeating, which is crucial for managing weight and blood sugar levels.
