In a terrifying viral video that has left social media users petrified, a car carrying a family of five was struck by a bolt of lightning near Waverly, Kansas. The incident happened on June 25 and was recorded by Carl Hobi, who was right behind the car when it received lightning jolts.

The clip was shared on several social media pages after being posted online. The clip shows the car driving in the heavy rain when lightning struck it.

The five passengers were unharmed but extremely shaken up. The passengers in the car included a three-year-old, a 1.5-year-old, and an eight-month-old, as told by eyewitness Carl Hobi to Newsweek via Instagram.

"They were in shock and the first thing they did was make sure the kids were okay and they were relieved that everyone was just fine. The car was dead and stuck in gear and we could not get it into neutral to push off the road. It will most likely be considered totaled," Carl Hobi told Newsweek.

The viral video shows heavy rain pouring on the highway when suddenly a bolt of lightning strikes the black SUV. Luckily the passengers escaped unscathed.

Meanwhile, social media users reacted to the dramatic footage, with most users worried about the family's security. One user even joked, "Recharged. Elon Mask at work."
