A short video of baby cobras surfaced on the microblogging site Twitter, which awed its users. The video was shared yesterday evening and has since gone viral on social media, with thousands of views and mesmerized Twitter users.
The video was uploaded to Twitter yesterday by Indian Forest Service Officer Parveen Kaswan and is over 40 seconds long. The caption on the video is, “These cute cobras. Eggs were rescued by our volunteer & after 50 days they are out. Released in wild (sic).”

He also added that the baby snakes seen in the video are Monocled Cobras. The eggs were rescued a few weeks back and stored in a bucket of sorts, where they have hatched. The baby cobras can be seen moving around playfully in the same bucket.
The monocled cobra, also called monocellate cobra, or Indian spitting cobra is a venomous cobra species widespread across South and Southeast Asia and listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, as they are found abundantly across the country.
While many Twitter users were mesmerized by the baby cobras and appreciated the efforts of the Forest Department in rescuing them, some of the users didn’t agree with IFS Parveen Kaswan and said that the cobras were more scary than cute.
A Twitter user said, “Maybe I’m wrong but they are not cute at all.”Another user, while defending the innocent baby cobras, said, “People logic: If you cant pet them, they ain’t cute.” The video has gathered over 36,000 views overnight.
What do you think, are they cute or scary?
