No Indian politician trends on social media as much as Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor does and not for political reasons. It's his exemplary English language skills and witty sense of humour that attracts the audience. Last month, Tharoor went viral for smashing a coconut at a temple as a part of Onam tradition. It turned out to be a meme fest on Twitter.

Shashi Tharoor, who is known for his more than perfect vocabulary and grammar, who often flaunts it on social media platforms as well took many by surprise when he sang a Hindi song. The politician was at a cultural programme organised by Doordarshan Srinagar.

The clip was uploaded by Shashi Tharoor himself on his Twitter handle. In the video, he is seen donning a kurta with a black Nehru jacket and a Kani shawl draped over it. In a happy mood, he begins to sing 'Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se', the hit song from the 1974 film 'Ajnabee'. However, he did not know all the lyrics and had to take help through his phone as the crowd cheered for him.

Addressing the media, he said, "After the cultural programme by Doordarshan Srinagar for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I was persuaded to sing for the members. Unrehearsed and amateur but do enjoy it."

Take a look at the video:

The song 'Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se' is sung by the legendary singer Kishore Kumar and composed by RD Burman.

Meanwhile, Twitter had a blast watching the video which has now been viewed over 95,000 times since it was uploaded.
