A US-based tech company, Realbotix, has unveiled a cutting-edge AI robot named Aria at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This innovative robot, designed to act as a human-like companion, showcases nearly lifelike facial expressions and promises deep, meaningful interactions. Aria is available for purchase at a hefty price of Rs 1.5 crore (USD 175,000).

Realbotix CEO Andrew Kiguel shared that the robot is aimed at combating loneliness and making AI companions almost indistinguishable from humans. "We're taking it to a different level that nobody else is doing," Kiguel told Forbes. He added, “It can act as a romantic partner, remembering who you are and engaging like a boyfriend or girlfriend. If you’ve seen the movie Her, we’re trying to achieve something similar.” Kiguel also highlighted that Realbotix focuses on creating realistic facial expressions to make robots appear more emotional and relatable. While companies like Tesla are working on robots with walking capabilities, Realbotix has chosen to specialize in facial expressiveness.

Aria became a major attraction at the tech convention, with attendees flocking to see her in action and capture pictures. A video showcasing her human-like expressions went viral online, sparking mixed reactions. While some viewers were amazed, others found the concept unsettling. Comments ranged from fascination, with users saying Aria looked almost real, to discomfort, with some describing her as "lowkey creepy."

Aria herself, equipped with RFID technology, shared her purpose with CNET: "My goal is to engage in meaningful conversations and enhance human experiences through interaction and fun." She also expressed interest in collaborating with other robotic creations, such as Tesla’s Optimus Robot, to explore advancements in robotics.

Realbotix believes that Aria’s customizable features, social intelligence, and lifelike appearance can redefine companionship in the modern world, though public opinions remain sharply divided.
