A few days back, Hitesha Chandranee, a makeup artist and influencer hailing from Karnataka, shared a video online claiming that a Zomato delivery executive hit her and ran away. After her video went viral and the Bengaluru Police arrested the accused, several new things have come to the attention including the delivery executive's statement denying the allegations made by Hitesha.

Here's everything that has happened in the case so far.

Hitesha Chandranee had recently claimed that a Zomato delivery executive hit her and ran away after they argued over the delivery time of the food she had ordered through the app. Hitesha had shared a video of the same on her Instagram account and a shorter version of the same clip on Twitter.

After her video went viral, Zomato also shared an apology for the incident and promised necessary action. "Hey Hitesha, thank you for speaking to us, we can assure you this is not the experience our delivery universe stands for. Our local representative shall be in touch with you shortly to help you with the police investigation. Along with assistance on the medical care required. We can't emphasise how sorry we are, rest assured we'll take necessary actions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future," they wrote.

After Hitesha's video aired, Joshi Srinath Bengaluru DCP (South East), confirmed that the delivery man, Kamaraj, was arrested.

The Zomato delivery executive who was accused of physical assault, identified as Kamaraj, however, shared a different version of the incident and denied the allegation saying that it was the woman who first verbally abused him, and then hit him with a "chappal." He was quoted by The News Minute saying, "After I reached her apartment door, I handed her the food and I was expecting her to pay me (as she had opted for cash on delivery mode of payment)." Kamaraj further said that he even apologised since the delivery was delayed due to traffic and bad roads but Chandranee was very rude.

Kamaraj said he used his hands to save himself after Hitesh tried to hit him and it was at that point when she accidentally hit herself with her finger ring on the nose, which led to the bleeding.
