Alexa Majdalawi, who suffers from asthma and was sitting just behind the smoker, said, “She literally took out a cigarette and just started smoking.”
According to a video emerging from the US state of Florida, a bizarre incident happened on a flight this week. A woman caught the displeasure of her fellow passengers after lighting up a cigarette as the airplane approached the terminal after an hour-long flight.
The Spirit Airlines airplane landed at about midnight on Tuesday, August 24, after trip from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale. It took an hour for the flight to reach the terminal from the runway.
Alexa Majdalawi, who suffers from asthma, was sitting just behind the smoker. Majdalawi, who had flown to Detroit for a wedding, complained about the woman's smoking to the flight crew but they refused to do anything, she said.
They allegedly informed her she could shift her seat at the plane's back if she wanted, and she did. She stated that the video began after she got out of her seat. Airline staff was informed of the smoke and took necessary measures, according to a Spirit Airlines representative.
Alexa told Fox News about the incident and said, “She literally took out a cigarette and just started smoking,”
The airplane took an hour on the taxiway before reaching the gate, during which the passenger pulled out a cigarette and started blowing smoke inside the pressurized cabin.
According to the local County Sheriff's Office, officers reacted to the incident and escorted the woman from the plane after airline staff requested it. Authorities stated that she obeyed and that no arrest was made.
In-flight smoking used to be linked with flying, but it is now banned on all domestic and international flights. According to the airline, flight personnel detected the odour and other passengers identified the smoker.
