1.A childless merchant begins Sawan Somwar fasting
In a large town, a wealthy merchant and his wife were unhappy due to being childless. Hoping for divine blessings, he began observing fasts every Shravan Monday, offering prayers and lamps at Lord Shiva’s temple.
2.Lord Shiva warns of karma
Touched by his devotion, Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva to bless the couple. Shiva revealed their karma didn't allow them to have a child, but moved by faith, he granted them a son who would live only for 14 years.
3.Amar replaces a missing groom on his journey to Kashi
The couple’s son, Amar, was sent to Kashi for education. On the way, he stayed in a town with a royal wedding. When the groom went missing, Amar was asked to stand in temporarily.
4.Amar dies at 14 as Lord Shiva had said
Just as predicted, Amar fell sick on turning 14 and died in Kashi. His uncle performed his last rites. But when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati passed by, Parvati pleaded once more, for the boy’s life.

5.Lord Shiva brings Amar back to life
Honouring Goddess Parvati’s request and the merchant’s unwavering faith, Shiva brought Amar back to life. The family rejoiced, proving how Shravan fasts and true devotion can earn divine blessings.
