From Chaiwale Baba to Anaj Baba: 8 babas stealing the spotlight at Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will start from Monday, January 13 with the Paush Poornima Snan. This Maha Kumbh is more special for its unique babas who have been practicing rituals which have spiritual or societal significance.

1.Bavandar and Splendor Baba

Bavander Baba reached the holy land after travelling one lakh kilometres, while Splendor Baba, who is differently abled, travelled all the way from Gujarat and undertook a 14-day journey on his three-wheeler motorcycle. Bavander Baba, who is on a mission to promote Sanatan Dharma across the country, said that he will raise concerns regarding Hindus themselves disrespecting gods and goddesses.

2.Digambar Naga Baba and Khadeshwar Naga Baba

Digambar Naga Baba, who arrived in Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, is from Rajasthan and has been standing with his right hand raised up to protect the Sanatan Dharma. Khadeshwar Naga Baba from Gujarat has been standing continuously for the last 12 years for the welfare of the people.The seer has built a swing in order to support himself. 

 

3.Rudraksh Baba

One of the seers at the Maha Kumbh 2025 is the Rudraksh Baba who wears 108 rudraksh garlands which consists of a total of 11,000 rudraksh. The weight of these 11,000 Rudrakshas is more than 30 kg. With the number of Rudraksh on the Baba increasing, he has now become famous by the name of Rudraksh baba. 

 

4.Ambassador Baba

Another seer who has become a center of attraction at the Maha Kumbh 2025 is the Ambassador Baba who arrived at the Mela in his Saffron coloured Ambassador car. Originally from Madhya Pradesh's Indore, Ambassador Baba is more than 50 years old and has attended four Kumbh Melas in his ambassador car. His ambassador car is a 1972 model and has been with him since the last 30 to 35 years. 

 

5.Anaj Wale Baba

Anaaj Wale Baba has become the centre of attention for growing crops like wheat, millet, gram, and peas on his head. For the past five years, Baba has used this unusual method to spread awareness about protecting the environment. A Hatha Yogi by practice, he says this effort is his way of promoting peace and highlighting the importance of greenery, especially as deforestation continues to harm the planet. 

 

6.Chai Wale Baba

A tea seller turned ascetic from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has been providing free coaching for civil services aspirants for the past 40 years without eating or speaking anything. Known as Dinesh Swaroop Brahmachari, he has vowed to remain silent and abstain from food, surviving solely on ten cups of tea daily while guiding students through WhatsApp. 

 

7.Rabri Baba

Also known as, Shri Mahant Devgiri (Shri Panchayati Akhada Mahanirvani), has created a buzz with his unique service. Every day, starting at 8:00 AM and till late at night, Baba boils milk in a giant Kadhai to prepare creamy Rabri, which is served to the devotees. His selfless service has not only become a highlight of the Kumbh but has made the devotees joyous. 

 

8.Environment Baba

Mahamandaleshwar Avdhoot Baba alias 'Environment Baba' said that Sanatan Dharma teaches that everyone should plant 2 trees, one of which is needed during final rites and one Peepal tree for oxygen. He owns a special vehicle in which he used to roam in Rishikesh during Covid and till 1 km where he used to perform the rituals there was no Covid.
