Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who stirred a controversy after his comments on 'The Kapil Sharma Show', has hit back at the comedian after the latter's response to the ageing thespian's remarks calling his show 'vulgar' and 'the worst'.

In a long note written in Hindi on his verified Instagram handle, Mukesh Khanna while stating that finally the one person who had the right to speak on the matter has spoken, said that while several media outlets claimed that Kapil Sharma gave a befitting response to him, in his own humble opinion, the comedian, host-turned-actor did not address the issue at hand and diverted the topic completely by stating that he and his team are working hard to make people smile during these critical times of the pandemic.

In his note, Mukesh wrote that he never objected on spreading smiles, but instead questioned the manner in which smiles are being spread. While mentioning that there could be nothing better than making people smile, Mukesh stated that just to obtain the ultimate objective one cannot adopt any means that they wish to.

Mukesh said that his only objection with 'The Kapil Sharma Show' is the underlying 'cheapness' and 'obscenity' attached with the comedy that the host and others enact and promote on the show. While on one hand Mukesh praised that the actors and said that they are doing a great job, he added that they could do better if provided with a good script that is decent and respectful.

Quoting Kapil and dismissing his claims that he and his show is doing all this during the COVID times, Mukesh said that Kapil has been doing such cheap comedy from a very long time. Backing this, Mukesh recalled an incident when Kapil had lost basic decency when he wore the costume of a divine and gracious character like Shaktimaan in a honeymoon skit.

In the end, Mukesh without taking Kapil's name said that he should not drift from the matter at hand, or try to twist the narrative but simple answer whether his comedy has obscenity or not.

Earlier, during an interview with The Times of India, when Kapil was asked about the whole controversy, the comedian-actor had said, "My team and I are working hard to make people smile during this crucial stage of the pandemic. When the whole world is going through a tough time, it is important to bring a smile to people’s faces. It depends on each individual ki aapko kis baat main khushi dhoondhni hai, aur kis baat main kami. I have chosen happiness and prefer to focus on my work and continue to keep doing that in the future."
