Sarita Joshi-Purbi to turn from real to reel ma-beti in 'Khichdi'

Real-life mother-daughter, Sarita Joshi and Purbi, are all set to share screen space as ma-beti in the upcoming sitcom Khichdi. This is the first time the two will be seen together on screen. Says producer JD Majethia, “When Sarita and Purbi are together, they bring the house down. I had seen them together in a Gujarati play and they created a laugh riot. I always wanted to cast them in a serial, but it hadn’t materialised until now. Purbi resides in LA, but she’s here for a week. So, we took the opportunity and got her and Sarita to do an episode for us.” While Sarita plays an old bua, Purbi portrays her daughter. The duo will create havoc in the Parekh family, which comprises Anang Desai, Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta and Vandana Pathak.
