Charvi Saraf has been trying to get herself tested for COVID-19 since a week, according to her open letter
Television actress Charvi Saraf, best remembered for her role in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay', has been feeling the symptoms of coronavirus and trying to get tested for the same in Delhi. However, after failing to get a test done, she penned down an open letter addressing the issue.
"I have Covid-19 symptoms, but is getting a test done too much to ask for in Delhi?," asked Charvi, as reported by ANI. She also mentioned stepping out of the house only when in need of groceries, which is when she felt strange.
"My body temperature kept rising and dropping. Soon, I started having high fever, with a lot of body ache, breathlessness, pain in throat and headache. Of course like anyone would, I started panicking and wondering if I am suffering from Covid-19. Moreover, I was scared for my family. I didn't want anything to happen to them, so I decided to quarantine myself," addressed Charvi.
She also spoke about how her family doctors couldn't test her because they do not have the COVID-19 test kits. The actress then stated that nearby private hospitals also refused to test them stating the facility was not available with them. Charvi, who was in no state to go to the hospital, then contacted the government hospital, who asked her to consult her doctor as she could have got viral infection. Upon contacting the COVID-19 helpline, Saraf was told that she would have to wait for another week.
The actress stated that it has been five days since she asked for a test and did not get a clear response on it. "If getting a test done is such a task for me, how difficult will it be for people who don't have the right contact of doctors or who aren't in the best of health to make such efforts, or the poor people who have to stand in long queues in government hospitals where the risk is higher, and can't even afford the fees of private labs," questioned Saraf.
Charvi concluded the letter mentioning, "I am an actor and I lead a regular life like everyone else. All I need is a Covid test so that my family and I know whether we are safe or not. Is it too much to ask for? There are people who show symptoms and still do not come out in open to speak and there are people like me who wish to know the truth by getting tests done, but is the government and hospitals really interested in people like us?"
