"People need to realize that I am playing a fictional character. They hurl abuses and make comments like I deserve to die," Aishwarya Sharma said.
Trolling, passing nasty and mean comments on social media have become commonplace occurrences these days. While hatred comes easily on social media, the trolls sitting behind those faceless accounts, have no idea about the kind of impact they are leaving on people who are targetted and subjected to negativity. And for one, celebrities are easy targets.
Recently, TV star Aishwarya Sharma, who essays the role of the antagonist Patralekha "Paakhi" Salunkhe in the show, opened up about online trolling and how it has affected her.
For the unversed, Aishwarya Sharma has not only been trolled but also received death threats for the character she plays onscreen. Yes, you read that right! While Neil Bhatt aka ACP Virat Chavan and Ayesha Singh aka Sai Joshi's onscreen chemistry has the fans in love with the two characters, it Aishwarya who is Neil's real-life girlfriend and the two are set to get married soon. However, #SaiRat fans are finding it difficult to come to terms with the fact that not Aishwarya aka 'Paakhi' and Neil aka Virat are together. Aishwarya Sharma has been subjected to nasty comments for portraying the character of the 'other woman' in the show 'Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin'.
The catch here is that Aishwarya likes to express her love for her real-life hero Neil on social media, but each time she shares photos with Neil, #SaiRat fans bombard her with mean comments.
Speaking about dealing with the trolls, Aishwarya told ETimes in an exclusive chat, "If I post anything online related to my personal life, they start harassing me. I am engaged to Neil, who plays my co-star in the serial. I cannot help that. I like posting about him on my account, but then they call me an insecure woman. I am marrying Neil in real life and I would request people to accept this fact now. I am scared to open my social media account."
"It is very upsetting. People need to realize that I am playing a fictional character. They hurl abuses and make comments like I deserve to die. Apart from sending me direct messages, people tag me while making nasty remarks. I mean bit** has become my second name of sorts online. Also, if I post anything online related to my personal life, they start harassing me," Aishwarya concluded.
