'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Episode 4 'The Last of the Starks' Review: An unexpected death we weren't prepared for

After the epic Battle of Winterfell, it was expected that the very next episode will be a lot calmer and aftermath of 'The Long Night'. For the uninitiated, Arya Stark killed of the Night King and the Whitewalkers shattered in pieces immediately after that. Among many, Ser Jorah Mormont and Theon Greyjoy die the heroic death saving Daenerys Targaryen and Bran Stark respectively. It was expected as well as heartbreaking at the same time.

The fourth episode of Game of Thrones season eight starts with Dany crying profusely by looking at Ser Jorah lying there in peace. On the other hand, Sansa Stark was seen sobbing over Theon's death. She even puts a Stark pin in his pocket. Jon Snow then talks about the bravery of the warriors who lost their lives while fighting the war. And in the end, all of them are burnt in pyres. Well, there's a deeply injured Ghost too.

After mourning over the death of the armies, it's time to celebrate their victory over Dead. Amidst that, Gendry, who helped Arya Stark lose her virginity is searching her and is stopped by Dany. The Mother of Dragons declares him as the Lord of the Storm's End and even calls him the lawful son of Robert Baratheon, though he is a bastard. After raising a toast to everyone, Gendry rushes to search Arya and give her the happy news. After finding her, he breaks the news and even proposes her for marriage. Arya couldn't hide her happiness but ends up rejecting him as she can't be a Lady and she never was.

Jon celebrates with the men and Dany becomes red with jealousy as she knows they all would want him to take the Iron Throne. She can't deal with it! Whereas, Jaime Lannister and Ser Brienne of Tarth can be seen getting sexually attracted to each other. While playing a sort of 'Never Have I Ever', Tyrion Lannister asks Brienne if she's a virgin, to which she walks away. Jaime follows her and there goes another virgin! 

Dany meets up Jon and they make out but he suddenly stops knowing that she is his aunt. They have an argument over Dany wanting to be the Queen and if people will know the truth, Jon will end up sitting on the Iron Throne. Though the North King promises that he doesn't want to rule the Seven Kingdoms, he won't hide the fact from his sisters Sansa and Arya. 

While discussing the war strategies against Cersei's army, we yet again see a cold war between Sansa and Dany. Later on, the Stark siblings surround Jon and ask him to clear the air of Dany's intentions. Yeah yeah, he tells them the truth! Well, Bran does after Jon makes his sisters swear on it.

Bronn reaches Winterfell and threatens Jaime and Tyrion. They pay him the double of what Cersei pays him so as to avoid being killed by his crossbow. 

Daenerys along with Tyrion and Grey Worm march to King's Landing and on the way someone gets killed. No, not among these three. It's the injured dragon Rhaegal, who gets brutally murdered by Euron Greyjoy's army. Only one child of Dany's left now. Cersei even abducts Missandei. Interestingly, pregnant Cersei tells Euron that she is carrying his baby. All for the elephants it seems!

The news reaches Winterfell which shatters Jaime. He sneaks out to head to King's Landing but is caught by Brienne. The Kingslayer reveals all his ill work which he did for Cersei to Brienne and ends up saying that even he is as hateful as his sister. 

Tyrion tries to take Cersei on a guilt trip by asking her to surrender. After shedding a tear or two, Cersei asks Missandei her last wish and she says 'Dracarys'. Missandei is executed by the Mountain which breaks Dany and Grey Worm into millions of pieces.

Daenerys won't forgive and forget anything! It's time for another epic war in episode five
