FIR against Amitabh Bachchan, KBC makers on Manusmriti question: Sona Mohapatra has THIS to say

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC 12), got itself involved in a controversy over a question during the Karamveer episode. 

The havoc was created after Amitabh Bachchan asked a question related to Manusmirti in the episode which saw social activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anoop Soni as guests. 

Now, singer Sona Mohapatra has weighed in on the matter. Taking to her Twitter account, the actor said, "I too would burn copies of Manusmriti if I got the chance. Some silly person filing an FIR is not such a big matter, gets thrown out of the window soon enough. That some are using this to equate it to the France beheadings as equivalent religious intolerance is a joke?"

She later also clarified in a tweet saying, "In case some didn’t get the sarcasm let me clarify,I personally wouldn’t burn any book,be it this not so important Hindu one which is a scapegoat always,Harry Potter, Old Testament or a Muslim sacred text. Point is, we don’t run to kill someone who does too like BR Ambedkar did." 

Sona was replying to a Twitter user who later deleted their tweet. In addition to this, Abhimanyu Pawar, BJP legislator from Ausa in Latur district, in a complaint to Latur SP Nikhil Pingle said action should be taken against Bachchan and the channel. 

He tweeted, posting a copy of his two-page letter to the police official, and said, "There was an attempt to insult Hindus and create discord between Hindus and Buddhists who have been living in harmony."

For the uninformed, the question was for Rs 6,40,000, On 25 December 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture? The options given were, a) Vishnu Purana, b) Bhagavad Gita, c) Rigdev, and d) Manusmriti. 

After answering the question, Amitabh Bachchan also said that "In 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar condemned the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and he also burned copies of it."
