Exclusive! Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Upasana Singh re-unite for a brand new show

Sunil Grover is all set to return to TV with a new comedy show, which is yet to be titled. Sources say that it will be a round-up of the happenings in 2018 and a prelude to what is coming up in 2019. “It will be based on the jija-saali concept with Sunil playing the brother-in-law. In the North, a lot of importance is given to the jija and everyone takes care to not upset him. The makers will be playing on that. In the show he will have seven saalis and it will have the feel of a Badhaai Ho meeting Bareilly Ki Barfi,” says the source.

Besides Sunil, other actors finalised for the concept include Ali Asgar, Sudesh Lahiri and Upasana Singh. The makers are also in talks with a Bollywood film personality to host it. “Unlike in Kapil’s show where as the host, he ridicules the other characters, the anchor here will also be playing a character. He will be one of the saalas. In fact, the saalis will be a mix of girls and men in drag with each having a peculiar characteristic,” says the insider.

The programme will have celebrities and film stars coming in to promote their films. While the round-up will cover various aspects, Bollywood will be the biggest highlight and gags will be designed around hits like Stree, Sanju and Padmaavat, big weddings like Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, films like Thugs Of Hindostan, ban on plastic, the World Cup and MS Dhoni etc. The shooting will begin once the actors are locked, and the show is slated to go on air around mid-December.
